INTRODUCTION

          This book, in many ways, is a miracle.  It presents a reading system that has done miraculous things for children.  It introduces a new way to teach reading to people, young and old, who have not been able to learn to read using conventional methods.  We wrote this book for all the children and all the parents who have shed so many tears over reading difficulties.  This book will hopefully teach you the same method that we use at Neuro-Learning Systems.  We call it "Neuro-Reading".  (Pronounced ner row - reading)
         If you are reading this book with hopes of finding help for a child under the age of seven, you may have the wrong book.  This book and the research and program that it presents, work best for children who have completed first grade.  We are not exactly sure why this is true but we assume it has something to do with development or exposure to reading.  We know that our program will not hurt those under age seven, but we feel, at this time, it would be best to investigate other avenues for those children.  A program like Reading Recovery may be better suited for children of this age.  Also, please note that our program has not worked with children affected by severe autism.  We did not design our program that way but our research has shown that this is the case.
          If the previous paragraph does not apply to you, welcome.  You are most likely a parent looking for a solution to your child's reading problem.  Our studies tell us that we are not the first place you have looked or the first book you have read.  You have most likely investigated many avenues and probably not found any that were successful.  You have likely spent many dollars and shed many tears.  We know your pain and we understand where you are coming from.

          We feel confident in saying that you have finally found a program that will work.  Our program has worked for virtually all people with the two exceptions noted earlier.  We have been successful at teaching reading to people from age 6 to 53.  We believe that it would work for people older than 53 but we have yet to have someone enter our program who was older than 53.  This program works and it works fast.  Most of our students are able to advance one grade level per 15 hours of professional tutoring.  If you are doing this at home, as opposed to hiring us to tutor, you could get the same results if you are tutoring more frequently.
          Some students labeled learning disabled in reading were able to shed that label after as little as eight months of twice weekly tutoring.  This was in our professionally administered program.  We think you can do the same at home, if you tutor five or six nights a week.
